Who Are We?

Future Professional Advocates (FPA) is a student-led advocacy group aiming to raise awareness to the Guelph-Humber community about the importance of providing classes and training for students, in order to gain knowledge about members of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, to best prepare them for future interactions and professions.

Our Vision
We are striving to provide inclusivity among members of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community, to ensure respectful interactions and communications between hearing and non- hearing individuals, specifically to assist students who are working with children for their future careers (teachers, doctors, personal trainers lawyers, police officers, social workers, speech and language pathology).
Our Goals:
-
Inform the Guelph-Humber community on the importance of educating students on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community.
-
Provide an enriching environment for open communication and positive interactions.
-
Getting enough signatures on our interest form to help promote the importance of an American Sign Language (ASL) elective.
-
To assist students with their future careers to help those who are Deaf and Hard Hearing.
Quotation
